MGS RIM H936 Fast Hardener is a high-performance hardener designed to work with MGS RIMR 935 resin for composite applications. Formulated with aliphatic and cycloaliphatic amines, it provides fast curing and strong mechanical properties, making it ideal for industries like boat building, automotive, and tooling. This hardener is perfect for creating parts that need high strength, dynamic load resistance, and heat resistance, and is suitable for infusion and hand lay-up methods.
With a pot life of approximately 2 hours at 30 °C (86 °F), it offers sufficient time for precise application, though higher temperatures shorten the pot life. After post-curing at 60 °C - 100 °C (140 °F - 212 °F), the glass transition temperature (Tg) can reach 105 - 120 °C (221 - 248 °F), making the cured parts resistant to high temperatures. The hardener also ensures smooth, high-gloss finishes even in high humidity or low temperatures and is compatible with various gel coats and paints, allowing flexibility in surface finishing.
Application:
Applications that require high heat resistances –
- Boat and shipbuilding
- Automotive
- Tooling and Moulding
Mixing and Preparation
- Mixing Ratio: Mix 100 parts of MGS RIMR 935 Resin with 29 parts by weight or 35 parts by volume of MGS RIM H936 Hardener.
Application Techniques
RIM (Resin Infusion Molding)
- Description: Resin is infused into dry reinforcements under vacuum pressure, ensuring even saturation and eliminating air pockets to produce strong, uniform composites.
- Best For: Creating complex shapes, minimizing waste, and producing lightweight, durable structure.
Hand Layup
- Description: Resin is applied manually to the reinforcement materials with tools like brushes or rollers.
- Best For: Prototyping and small-scale projects.
Processing Temperature
- Recommended Processing Temperature Range: 25 °C to 35 °C (77 °F to 95 °F) for optimal viscosity and performance.
Curing Process
- Initial Curing: Cures at room temperature, but requires heat treatment at 50 °C (122 °F) for improved strength.
- Curing Agent Compatibility:Compatible with MGS RIMR 935 Resin.
- Post-Curing:Post-cure at 60 °C - 100 °C (140 °F - 212 °F) to reduce curing time and enhance material properties.
