MGS L 335 is a laminating epoxy resin system with versatile hardener options (335, 340) that provide varied pot lives to suit different processing needs. This resin is tailored for applications requiring strong physical and mechanical properties
When mixed with MGS Hardeners 335 or 340, MGS LR335 offers exceptional durability and compatibility with various fibers, creating high-strength, non-tacky surfaces upon curing. It supports high static and dynamic loads, even under diverse environmental conditions, making it ideal for applications needing robust, heat-resistant surfaces. This system can be used without heat treatment for non-aircraft applications, though full performance properties are achieved after heat treatment.
Application
- Gliders
- Motor Gliders
- Sports Equipments
- Model Airplanes
- Moulds and Tools
Mixing and Preparation
- Mixing Ratio: The resin and hardeners have a consistent 1:1 mixing ratio by weight, allowing for easy adjustments based on the pot life requirements.
Application Techniques
Wet Layup
- Description: Resin is applied directly to the reinforcement materials.
- Best For: Prototyping and small-scale projects.
Vaccuum Bagging
- Description: Combines wet layup with vacuum pressure to improve laminate quality.
- Common Uses: Aerospace, marine, and automotive industries where high strength and precision are critical.
Application Tip: Mix the resin until it is completely clear with no cloudiness. Avoid overmixing or under-mixing, as either can compromise the curing process.
Processing Temperature
- The optimum processing temperature is in the range between 20 °C (68 °F) and 40°C (104 °F). Higher processing temperatures are possible, but will shorten pot life. An increase in temperature of 10 °C (50 °F) will halve the pot life.
Curing Process
- Initial Curing: Curing occurs at room temperature.
- Heat Treatment: A heat treatment at 50–55°C (122–131°F) is recommended to optimize the material's performance.
