Our MGS® LR285 epoxy resin is a high-quality solution for laminating, approved by the German Federal Aviation Authority for use with glass, carbon, and aramid fibers. It's known for its exceptional strength under both static and dynamic loads.
Properties
Temperature Resilience:
Post heat treatment at 50-55°C (122-131°F) makes the resin suitable for gliders and motor gliders, withstanding operational temperatures from -60°C (-76°F) to +54°C (129°F). For motor planes, a higher heat treatment at 80°C (176°F) extends the operational range to +72°C (161°F).
Versatile Pot Lives:
Pot life ranges between 45 minutes to 4 hours. Hardeners have the same mixing ratio and can be mixed for optimal system selection across different methods. After room temperature curing, the resin yields high-gloss, non-tacky surfaces, even under challenging conditions like low temperatures or high humidity.
Impregnation and Customization:
The resin's mixing viscosity allows fast, complete impregnation of reinforcement fibers without spillage on vertical surfaces. It can be combined with various fillers for specialized properties.
Storage and Handling:
Recommended storage conditions are 15-30°C (59-86°F) with low humidity. Crystallization, if occurs, is reversible by warming. Always use safety equipment during handling.
Safety and Compatibility:
LR 285 has been widely used in the aircraft industry since 1985, noted for its excellent physiological compatibility. It is less likely to cause allergic reactions or skin irritation. Users should adhere to industrial safety regulations for handling epoxy resins and hardeners.
